Oil Tanker Analyst

BRS has an exciting opportunity for an analyst to join the Tanker and Energy Research team in the Athens office.

Main Responsibilities:
• Developing and maintaining predictive models to support the analysis undertaken by the Tanker and Energy Research team
• Undertake tanker and energy market analysis
• Acquiring data from primary and secondary sources
• Produce presentation slide packs for tanker brokers
• Carry out ad-hoc extractions and manipulation of data
• Support the work of tanker brokers and Energy Research team as required

Candidate Profile
Academic Background:
• Graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, shipping, international affairs or related areas
• Masters degree is desirable

Key Competencies:
• Computer literate, excellent command of MS Excel, Powerpoint, PowerBi
• Strong grasp of Python. Knowledge of other programming languages would be an advantage
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work under time pressure
• Conscientious, very good eye for detail and quality control
• Strong communication skills
• Being fluent in spoken and written English
• Broad understanding of the energy and / or shipping sectors
• Experience of building mathematical models and the production of and manipulation of large databases
• Experience of drafting concise reports would be an advantage
